The 2019 Kia Stinger was awarded the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) top award of Top Safety Pick Plus. To win this award, a vehicle must pass with a score of “Good” on the following six tests: driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint. A vehicle must also score “Advanced” or “Superior” for crash prevention and “Good” for headlights.

The 2019 Kia Stinger passed all six crash tests with a score of “Good”. It scored “Superior” for the crash prevention and “Good” for headlights.

What safety features are included in the 2019 Kia Stinger?

There are many safety features available in the 2019 Kia Stinger. They include Forward Collision Avoidance with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Driver Attention Warning, High Beam Assist, Electronic Parking Brake, Rain-Sensing Wipers, Blind Spot Collision Warning, and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning.

The 2019 Kia Stinger is the first Kia vehicle that added the Driver Attention Warning and Lane Keeping Assistance technologies to the Drive Wise technology suite. The Driver Attention Warning system is in place to help a driver avoid distractions and not drive tired. The vehicle sounds an alarm if it believes the driver needs to take a break. The Lane Keeping Assist technology is in place to monitor the lane the driver intends to remain in. If the vehicle senses something is off, it will give input to the driver on how to remain in the intended lane.

Not all of these features come standard on the eight trim levels of the 2019 Kia Stinger. Most are available on the Premium trim levels and up. It is also important to note that these safety features are tools. You still need to practice the safe driving habits you learned in your driver’s safety course!
